Healthcare
Fixed scope, 5 months
Flutter, Firebase, Node.js
A regional healthcare provider needed a single app where patients could book appointments, message their care team, and view visit summaries — replacing a mix of phone calls, a dated patient portal, and paper after-visit summaries that patients regularly lost.
Because the client needed to support both iOS and Android on a fixed timeline and budget, we chose Flutter for a single shared codebase rather than building two native apps. We worked closely with clinical staff during design to make sure the appointment and messaging flows matched how care teams actually operate, not just how a generic scheduling app would.
A cross-platform Flutter app with real-time messaging, appointment booking synced to the clinic's existing scheduling system, and secure access to visit summaries — built with healthcare data handling practices in mind from the first architecture decision, not retrofitted afterward.
The app now sees thousands of active patients monthly, meaningfully reducing front-desk call volume for appointment scheduling and giving care teams a direct messaging channel that cut down on missed follow-ups.
